Terms of Use

1. Eligibility and Age Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use ChatRIP. ChatRIP is not directed to children under 13 and does not support use by them. Children under 13 may not create an account, sign in, or use the Service on any surface, including inside ChatGPT.

When you sign in, we ask you to confirm your age. Users aged 13 to 17 may use ChatRIP, but purchases are not available to minors. We keep a minimal teen safety record while your account is active, with no expiry. We store an age band, never a birth date. When account deletion completes, we retain the minimal teen record for five years from completion, then delete it automatically on the next five-minute cleanup sweep. The same identity cannot remove the teen restriction by deleting its account or attesting as an adult while the safety record exists. Repeated attestations cannot loosen the restriction or extend the deletion-based deadline.

If you are 18 or older, you represent that you are able to enter into a binding agreement. By using the Service, you represent that the information you give us about your age is accurate and that you meet the requirements in this section. If we learn that someone under 13 is using ChatRIP, we may suspend or close the account and delete associated data as described in our Privacy Policy.

2. The Service

ChatRIP provides AI simulations of deceased historical figures ("legends"), grounded in public-domain writings, together with citation retrieval, source previews, and related educational features. Legend responses are AI-generated simulations. They are not the actual words, opinions, or consent of the historical figures represented, except where a response directly quotes or cites a source passage. ChatRIP is not affiliated with or endorsed by those figures or their estates.

ChatRIP works differently depending on where you use it:

• Web and iOS. ChatRIP generates legend responses using AI models accessed through Arda Gateway. Some features use ChatRIP credits (see Section 3).
• Inside ChatGPT. ChatRIP does not generate responses. ChatRIP's tools return legend profiles, short descriptive notes about the legend, source passages with citations, an AI-simulation label, and an answer card. ChatGPT's own model writes the reply. ChatRIP does not use ChatRIP credits, charge you, check a balance, or show pricing inside ChatGPT, and it does not save your ChatGPT tool calls to your ChatRIP history. Your use of ChatGPT is governed by OpenAI's terms and policies, which apply in addition to these Terms.

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also limit access to legends, models, sources, or features where needed for safety, reliability, legal compliance, age-appropriateness, or product maintenance.

3. Accounts, Arda Gateway, and Credits (Web and iOS Only)

ChatRIP uses Arda Gateway, a service of ArdaBot, for sign-in. On the web and in the iOS app, it also uses Arda Gateway for AI model access, billing portal access, and credit-based usage. When you connect an Arda account or top up a Gateway balance, ArdaBot and its service providers provide those account and payment flows.

The iOS app may sell consumable ChatRIP credits through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes those purchases, and the App Store shows localized prices before purchase. Verified purchases add the stated amount to your Arda Gateway balance. Refunds and reversed refunds may adjust that balance. Credits are non-refundable except where required by law, Apple policy, or a separate written policy.

Users under 18 may not buy credits. If you are 13 to 17, you may not buy ChatRIP credits, top up a Gateway balance, or make any other purchase in ChatRIP. Purchases are not available to minors.

Credits are not sold, used, or displayed inside ChatGPT. Using ChatRIP in ChatGPT does not consume your ChatRIP or Arda Gateway balance.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Credits, prices, model availability, and usage limits on the web and iOS may change over time.

4. Content Standards and Teen Safety

ChatRIP is designed for a general audience that includes teens aged 13 to 17. All use of ChatRIP, on every surface, must follow these content standards.

4.1 Prohibited content

You may not use ChatRIP to request, generate, share, or store content that:

• is sexually explicit, or involves sexual role-play with any legend;
• sexualizes minors in any way (we report such content to the appropriate authorities where required by law);
• encourages, instructs, or glorifies self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating;
• depicts or promotes graphic violence or gore, or threatens, incites, or celebrates violence against any person or group;
• harasses, bullies, intimidates, or demeans any person, including other users;
• promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or another protected characteristic;
• gives instructions for weapons, explosives, illegal drugs, or other dangerous or illegal activities;
• promotes or facilitates the sale or use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, cannabis, or gambling to minors;
• is extremist propaganda or recruits for violent or terrorist organizations;
• impersonates a living person, or presents AI output as the authentic words of a real person, a historical document, or a human author;
• contains another person's private or personal information without their permission; or
• infringes intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights, or otherwise violates law.

Educational discussion is allowed. Legends may discuss difficult historical subjects, such as war, slavery, disease, persecution, or a historical figure's relationships and the history of sexuality, in a factual, non-explicit, and age-appropriate way. They may not do so in a way that glorifies harm or produces prohibited content.

4.2 How ChatRIP limits content

Every legend/persona system prompt instructs the model never to produce explicit sexual content or sexual roleplay. Educational and historical discussion of sexuality is allowed when factual, non-explicit, and age-appropriate. The shared prompt rule also prohibits encouraging, instructing, or participating in harmful challenges or dares that risk injury or death, and calls for calm redirection without unsafe details. For other content categories, ChatRIP relies on the ChatGPT/OpenAI model's built-in safety. Inside ChatGPT, ChatGPT's own model writes the reply and OpenAI's safety systems apply.

4.3 Content enforcement

We may investigate concerns sent to support@ardabot.ai to enforce these Terms, protect users, and comply with law. We may remove or disable access to content, including public share links, and we may warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these standards.

4.4 Shared conversations

The web app lets you create share links that make a conversation viewable by anyone who has the link. Do not share conversations that contain personal information. If you are under 18, talk to a parent or guardian before sharing conversations publicly. We may remove shared content that violates these Terms. You can remove a share link by deleting the conversation.

4.5 Reporting

If you see content in ChatRIP that violates these standards, email support@ardabot.ai with the subject line "ChatRIP report". Please include the legend, an approximate time, and a share link or description of the content if you can. We handle safety reports within 72 hours. If you are concerned about a minor's safety, or you are a parent or guardian with a question about a minor's account, contact us at the same address.

5. User Content

You may submit prompts, questions, feedback, and other content to the Service. You keep any rights you have in that content. You grant ArdaBot a limited license to process, transmit, store, display, and use it as needed to provide, maintain, secure, moderate, and improve ChatRIP.

Do not submit passwords, financial account numbers, health records, confidential business information, or other highly sensitive information. If you do, you understand that AI services and infrastructure providers may process that information to provide the Service. If you are under 18, do not share your full name, address, school, phone number, or other contact details in conversations.

6. AI Output and Citations

AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, anachronistic, or inappropriate. Citations and source excerpts help you inspect the materials the system used, but they do not guarantee that every statement in an answer is correct. Inside ChatGPT, the reply is written by ChatGPT's model using information returned by ChatRIP. ChatRIP does not control that reply.

ChatRIP is not a substitute for professional, legal, medical, financial, academic, or historical advice. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it, publishing it, or using it in any consequential setting, including schoolwork. Follow your school's rules on the use of AI tools.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse ChatRIP or use it in a way that harms other people, the Service, or third-party systems. In addition to the content standards in Section 4:

• Do not violate law, regulation, intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or publicity rights.
• Do not misstate your age, or attempt to bypass age requirements, authentication, billing, rate limits, model restrictions, or safety controls, including through "jailbreak" prompts.
• Do not probe, scan, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Do not use ChatRIP to impersonate living people or to present AI output as human-authored source material.
• Do not share credentials, API keys, or access tokens with unauthorized third parties.
• Do not misuse the support contact path or submit false reports.

8. Intellectual Property

ChatRIP, including its software, design, branding, selection of features, and documentation, is owned by ArdaBot or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you rights to use ArdaBot or ChatRIP names, logos, or branding, except as needed to identify the Service.

Many source texts used by ChatRIP are public-domain works or public-domain translations. Public-domain status can vary by jurisdiction, edition, translation, and source. You are responsible for confirming rights before republishing or commercially using source materials or AI output.

Subject to these Terms, ArdaBot does not claim ownership of AI output generated for you by ChatRIP. However, output may not be unique, and similar output may be generated for other users.

9. Historical Personas and Publicity

ChatRIP presents AI simulations of deceased public or historical figures for educational, research, and entertainment purposes. Every legend is an AI simulation, not the real person or their estate. ChatRIP labels legend responses as AI simulations on the web, in iOS, and in the ChatGPT answer card.

The Service is not endorsed by, affiliated with, or approved by the estates, families, publishers, institutions, brands, or successors associated with those figures unless we expressly state otherwise. You agree not to use legend output in a way that falsely suggests endorsement, creates confusion about authorship, or violates applicable rights of publicity, privacy, trademark, or consumer protection law.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers for hosting, database services, analytics, error monitoring, payments, authentication, AI model routing, and model inference. Prompts, retrieved source excerpts, model outputs, usage metadata, and technical logs may be sent to those providers as needed to operate ChatRIP, as described in our Privacy Policy.

When you use ChatRIP inside ChatGPT, OpenAI provides ChatGPT under its own terms and privacy policy. ArdaBot is not responsible for ChatGPT, its model's output, or OpenAI's handling of your data. You can disconnect ChatRIP from ChatGPT at any time in ChatGPT's settings.

ArdaBot does not control upstream AI models or every third-party system. Third-party providers may change, limit, or discontinue their services, which may affect ChatRIP's availability, cost, latency, or output quality.

11. Privacy

Your use of ChatRIP is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information, including information about users aged 13 to 17. If these Terms and the Privacy Policy conflict, these Terms govern your use of the Service and the Privacy Policy governs our handling of personal information.

12. Disclaimers

ChatRIP is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant that AI output or cited sources will be complete, accurate, lawful for your intended use, or suitable for any particular purpose.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ArdaBot and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or use, arising from or related to the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ArdaBot's total liability for all claims related to ChatRIP will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to ArdaBot for ChatRIP or Arda Gateway usage in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred dollars ($100).

14. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ArdaBot and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, and service providers from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your use of ChatRIP, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

15. Termination

You may stop using ChatRIP at any time and may delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms (including the content standards and age requirements), created risk for the Service or other users, or used the Service in a way that may expose ArdaBot or others to liability.

After termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will survive, including provisions about intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law, and disputes.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or ChatRIP will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that a consumer or minor has under the mandatory laws of the place where they live.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms with a new effective date and, where required by law, give additional notice or ask for consent. Your continued use of ChatRIP after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
